I noticed a strange issue with POD SpeedZone when trying to go online with CDDA enabled (on 0.6.10). While I can connect initially, as soon as you try to enter the lobby it gives an error: "Router Connection Lost" and boots me back to the login screen. If I try and go back in I get "Read Configuration Failed" and "HTTP Request Timeout". This happens with both the modem and the BBA. If I disable CDDA, it works fine.

CDDA must be played in hardware, during software playback the G2 bus is busy and there is not enough time to process the BBA / modem

Hmmm, Worms World Party and Next Tetris are able to be played online with CDDA so it must not affect all games.

this of course does not apply to all games, but there are games in which such a delay turns out to be fatal

EDIT:I browsed pcwzrd13's compatibility list and found that Gigawing us verion works very well without any freeze.
(0x8c000100,DMA on, SYNC 8, CDDA on, OS auto ,Loader 3)
So,I tested Gigawing jp verion until the last stage and ending of gigawing1 and finally found that it works very well without any freeze in the preset of below.
(0x8c004800, DMA on, SYNC true, CDDA on,OS auto, Loader3)


Thank very much pcwzrd13 for your flawless compatibility list which give great hint for finding the retrodream's preset of gigawing1 jp version.

Virtua striker2 us version(Virtua Striker 2 v1.002 (1999)(Sega)(US)(M5)[!]) works very well in iso loader 0.5.0
(0x8CFE8000, DMA on, SYNC 8, CDDA off,OS auto) which is included in dreamshell 4.0 rc3
But Virtua striker2 us version has different result in iso loader 0.6.0(fail to boot or freeze after first match of international cup) which is included in dreamshell 4.0 rc4 and Latest build of dreamshell...

Did you have try loader from dreamshell RC3 with dreamshell RC4 ?
I'm not sure to understand.

I tried loader 0.5.0 from dreamshell RC3 and loader 0.6.0 from dreamshell RC4
Virtua striker2 us version works very well in loader 0.5.0 but not in loader 0.6.0..

I finally succeed to run Frist Kiss Story2 in retrodream..
(Direct,0x8CB00000,DMA on, SYNC 7, CDDA off, OS auto,Loader 11,14)

But It has two problem which has to be fix in the future..
First problem, It freezed frequently when I press continuously A or B or X or Y button in order to fast skip any character's dialogue So, It is impossible to fast skip any character's dialogue.
And Second Problem is serious.It freezed in particular FMV animation.

and I also upload savedata to dropbox which I transfered with Vmu manager in dreamshell. if you feel inclined,You can test this savedata which is the same savedata with below youtube video

EDIT:I have played Frist Kiss Story2 for several hours and It seems that there is some point where display blackscreen after FMV animation and cannot make progress anymore..
It definitely need some update for iso loader in order to continue gameplay.....




if you have an interest in this blackscreen symptom, You can test it by downloading below dropbox link and select slot 8 of save data of Frist Kiss Story2 when you try to load it from title menu of this game(Frist Kiss Story2).

EDIT2: I noticed that save file, which I have uploaded a few weeks ago, cannot be loaded from emulator.
So. I just have uploaded vmd save file to dropbox(I renamed it to vmu_save_A1.bin in order to be used in flycast emulator.)
In First Kiss Story2 save file, You can find that Slot 3 and slot 8 is problematic savedata which freezed in particular FMV animation and permanently display blackscreen after FMV animation.

Hi, I'm trying to boot super street fighter 2 X cdi in retrodream with IP.BIN boot method selected. When I do this, retrodream reboots itself, and the game is not loaded. Is there setting I can use to fix this ? I'm using retrodream-1.1.1 with isoldr_v0.6.11_beta for sd card.

BTW - the cdi file boots up fine with direct boot method

@hsb083 you have to repack your game as.iso.
CDI is not a good format.

I just received my intrépide Izzy homebrew game.
The iso loader 0.6.11 Can read the .iso perfectly with loader 0.6.11_se true dma, it runs like a charm with terribly fast loadings.
If homebrew has no cdda it Can be a good way to repack them as .iso instead of gdi opt. If you have a poor skill like me.

I'm sorry, I still don't try NBA showtime, I'm not a basketball fan...

I find some improvement with 0.6.11_se instead of clone gdemu with the game finding teddy.
With gdemu you don't have any music effect but with preset DMA True you have them as they should
with dreamshell Smile

Latest version of GCC is 12.1
I use 9.3 it's last ported GCC to working in KOS environment and this is enough. In modern versions of the GCC there are practically no changes regarding SH4.

@SWAT Do you still have ideas for improving CDDA emulation? I think it's the biggest drawback to DreamShell at the moment. There are a lot of games that play perfectly but have no music or buggy music.

Yes I made some improvements for CDDA. It's no fundamental changes, but some new features can help improve compatibility.

If I can suggest some thing that look quite easy for me :
Release a 0.6.11 cdda loader for wince games, because a lot of wince games still not play cdda, the last update is from 0.6.1_gcc7.1 loader.

And if it's possible reach the perfect data transfer that can boot ooga booga without echelon hack for example (even if the 0.6.11 is really better than gdemu clone even for music and very close to gdemu official 5.20 version). I guess the compatibility for cdda will be improved too. We have seen for a game like revolt, the race start is managed by the cdda sync.

Of course it's an external opinion of a very novice.
