My tests :
suzuki allstar extrem racing works only with cdda with sd card : NoDMA, cdda sync 8, 0x8c000100
black screen with all ide.bin with cdda even in opt.
with 0.6.1 gcc7.1
half life paranoia mod works well now in opt format : true DMA, 0x8c000400 :-)

For bad news :
looney toons space race 0.6.1 gcc, opt dma 0x8c004800 cdda (or not) black screen after infogrames logo works only with dreamshell RC3
super runabout : Message "Assertion Debug Failed" in each config with cdda or not (wince game)


So I will try some games with no cdda by 0.6.2 loader :-)

For me you can't have cdda for Suzuki Alstare Extreme Racing and 4 wheel thunder (and probably all thunder series) with ide because the system of cdda.
the sd system and ide system for cdda are different.

You can add in comment in your list : sd for cdda (and sd.bin 0.6.6x is fantastic really better than sd.bin 0.6.0)

For games with intro trouble (soulcalibur, skies of arcadia, alice dream tournament, alone in the dark etc...) deserve a try with loader 0.6.6x
alice dream tournament -> ok
soulcalibur -> better (video fo swat)

some others tests :-) :

with 0.6.1 gcc7.1 super runabout always the same text : Message "Assertion Debug Failed" so doesn't work

I had bad result with 0.6.2 with dma, the 0.6.1 gcc7.1 is better so I focus on 0.6.3 no dma and no cdda.
with 0.6.3 looney toons space race run now with dreamshell RC4 loader 0x8c004800 no dma and no cdda! :-D you can add it dragoncity


Many attemps with MSR and 0.6.3 :
0xfc001000 and 0xfc0040000 -> blck screen
0xfc00f800 -> no signal on tv
0xfc008000 -> black screen

others loader intro and black screen

0xfcff6000 -> reboot

with 0xfcff4800 and 0xcfe8000 I have the intro and black screen but the metropolis street racer dreamshell text on vmu disapear.

I didn't realize on the moment but I believe with 0.6.1 gcc7.1 loader I have intro and black screen and metropolis street racer kudos icon on the vmu...
It means I'm closer with those two loaders ? I try to find again the good set for having the vmu after intro and black screen.

Have you some advice for next ?

Ok I added,but the problem is this game has CDDA..so the best it's find the config with CDDA Big Grin

Yes I know, but it can run with dreamshell RC4 now.

It just confirms that the size of loader is important.

I gave a shot with stupid invaders ; the loader for running it is very huge 0x8ce00000 ! For booting the game before a freeze in the last video before playing.
I try it with 0.6.1 gcc7.1 and 0.6.3.
the loader before is 0X8cff600 and the dreamcast reboot, so I wish to try a loader like 0x8cff800 between both.
How can I change the loader manually ? I have the icon text in yellow but I don't know how to change it with numbers ?... The red virtual keyboard give only text...

Next try revolt :-)

Hold left or right trigger for change keyboard view.
Press left+right for change size.

Coming home I will also test to see if I find any value that works.
when we celebrate a memory value in the loader and Dreamcats restarts is why memory burst?

Sometimes during a reboot, the dreamshell bios "see" the hdd and sd and sometimes not. I don't know why...

I try revolt with 0.6.1 gcc7.1 and the race don't start, and no cdda with hdd. I try loader 0x8c000100 :
with cdda -> black screen
no cdda -> the race never start
no cdda IP.BIN boot mode -> the race never start
with 0.6.6x via sd.bin same loader :
cdda -> the game boot :-) the music is playing but the race don't start anyway... I try IP.BIN boot mode too.
it's the third game after 4wheel thunder and suzuki all star racing cdda in PIO via sd card run than DMA.
Maybe the race will start in opt format...

stupid invaders :loader 0x8ce00000 with 0.6.6x and 0.6.1 gcc7.1 both IP.BIN boot mode and direct -> the game freeze after the second intro...
Maybe with a loader smaller ? Have you try gilvan999 ?

MSR try gdi and 0.6.1 I still don't find the loader when I had seen the kudos logo on my vmu.

Still looking for msr, and probably an other cdda game.

Other attempt with stupid invaders.
Under loader 0x8ce00000 the game doesn't boot. At 0x8cf00000 the game freeze at first screen.

I did a last try with 0x8ce08000 and the game freeze at the same moment (end of second video of intro).
It deserves others try around loader 0x8ce08000.

Hi, I don't know if you are still around here dear @SWAT, I'm sorry to bother you with my request but it looks it's fast to try :
there is a new gcc 9.3 :-D could you do the same thing than for 0.6.1_gcc_7.1 loader ?

Same request for sd loader 0.6.x beta please ?

It may give an improvements for cdda with hdd (we know than each byte smaller could be a good issue), and I know sd loader as no update planned but it's the only way to play cdda with suzuki alstar racing and 4 wheel thunder actually due to PIO. And sdcard is the often the first way to enter in dreamshell fantastic world :-)

I fixed some bugs, now it should be works better.
Most of compatible games should be works with DMA (on IDE device), but not all in true async, some only in emu async, but DMA.
WinCE and other games that uses reading like "stream" doesn't work in this build because I disable IRQ handling yet. Also disabled CISO support, I can build with it if someone need it.
SD loader not tested in general, help me plz with testing all of them.
I made build with CDDA and without it on GCC 9.3.0.

Suzuki allstar racing and 4 wheel thunder have cdda with sd card, it will be interested to try them too.

[EDIT] toy commander and Guilty gear for example have cdda crash with loader 0.6.1 gcc7.1, it means they almost work with cdda, maybe with this new loader it will be good.
