can we use hot blower to get it off,and replace a large ram?
Now,ram partical is cheap and large.

Theoretically, the cpu sh4 must work with more RAM. Example NAOMI.
But I'm not sure what will be a fairly simple change.

the naomi have 32M ram , 8M sound ram, 16M graphics ram,
it hava a similar hardware with DC.
does it possible to increase ram,and modify bios to fit it ?

That is the only problem with the Dreamcast I think is the low ammount of RAM. With more RAM there might not be any slow down on games like Shenmue 2 with lots of people on scree at once. I could imagine larger levels in Half-Life DC, maybe even mergine the smaller levels together for les load times. Maybe even the Bleemed games might run faster wih more ram. It would be interesting to buy an old broken Naomi board and do a RAM swap and edit the Bios to access it. Smile

I don't think it make sense replacing the RAM of Dreamcast with a larger one. Game consoles are not so open as PC, and Dreamcast games were designed based on existing RAM, if RAM of larger size is replaced, games would not utilize the extra capacity, and it's more probably that Dreamcast could not recoginze larger RAM.

Of course, if you successfully hacked and modified the Dreamcast hardware and bios, and develop a game based on larger RAM, then you may utilize larger RAM for better performance Smile

NEOGEO EMU....AES4ALL is too slow in many excellent games, because of only 16M ram.
It is possible to advice the EMU owner Compile a big ram version,if somebody could replece ram ic, and hack bios to recoginze it ...
