Moband Adapter ( Dreamcast modem broadband replacement band ) - aldair - 24.05.2014 20:47 Moband Adapter ( Dreamcast modem broadband replacement band ) With the cooperation / interest in the project emulation GD- ROM Generating a lot of successful hardware , I figured now would be a good time to introduce a project I 've been working on / off again over the last ten years and hope help you achieve ICT potential. It started with the desire to create a better version of the Dreamcast dial-in server that uses Windows services 98 network / dial-up telephone and a NAT implementation . Failure to meet the requirements of ease of use , put on the project , I went to the next step and set my own dial -in server from scratch with built in PPP , NAT and DNS services protocol. This allowed a single application , regardless of the operating system to respond to the call of the Dreamcast modem and redirect it successfully through the computer's network interface device. While the goal of ease of use makes it were , was still questionable reliability . Problems with PC modems still caused system instability and the Dreamcast was limited by conversion speed A / DD / A modem . Enter the ( MB ) dem / Broad (band ) Adapter ( Moband ) Both Moband solves problems , eliminating entirely the modem . He appears as a 56K modem based on Conexant adapt to the Dreamcast , INSTEAD goal is directly connected to a computer via USB to simulate the basic functions of the modem initial setting . That means no hardware or software changes are required to use the adapter with retail games . In terms of speed , waiting times for the Dreamcast to connect to the PC are deleted passablement means instant access to the network . As someone whose work with the Dreamcast is mainly salting icts with offline games online again , it makes things much faster . Homebrew developers can place the device in a direct line of communication fashion that bypasses the dial-up retail games cell use to adapt or use software to debug or create your own online games . Currently the PC application requires tailor -side year to unload the PPP and network stacks . Ideally I would like to replace the USB connection to Ethernet connection and move around the board processing to make the adjustment purpose truly independent , I 'm mainly a software developer , so my knowledge of the hardware needed to accomplish this is limited . Currently , the prototype is using an 8 -core 32 -bit microcontroller with Parallax Propeller for specific training of communication downloaded each core ( ie a core is dedicated to receiving send over USB while more Send comments , a core is dedicated to registering emulation , etc. ) . Here is where I turn to the community for input / advice on how to implement the features mentioned above . Any recommended Ethernet controllers ? JJ1odm LAN to serial adapter is something I 've been looking for . Please remember, the goal of this project is transparency for the Dreamcast , so everything has to be rendered on the suit http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?51856-Moband-Adapter-(Dreamcast-Modem-To-Broadband-Replacement) RE: Moband Adapter ( Dreamcast modem broadband replacement band ) - cybdyn - 24.05.2014 21:21 is it your own project? or you type it like new, i just have questions. what is main goal of such device: load data/code by usb to g2 port? play games w/ net support? |
