Issue with HDD when booting - dawei - 16.05.2016 05:35
I have an issue -- the HDD is formatted to FAT32 -- it's 500 GB. I have the DreamShell loaded on the hard drive at the top of the directory. When I turn on the dreamcast, I get this message: FATFS: Error 5 in mounting logical drive 0. Could not mount device as fatfs.
I took the hard drive out and reformatted and same issue. Any ideas?

You need make primary partition, seems you have logical partition on HDD.
Remove all partitions and make one primary.

I have this error on my custom bios says error 5 and i ve solder other cables and use other gdrom can someone help me ?

It's not a hardware issue, this is wrong MBR.

I had this message when at writing the HDD (passing games from PC to HDD) it freezes and then I desconected it. Later hdd ask for "format to be used" and does not open in pc and in Dreamshell appears that screen
