Ok so I swapped out my CF card for an IDE HDD and Ooga Booga works perfectly! Played 16 rounds with no freezing. Switched back to the CF card and it froze on the 2nd round. So the CF card is the issue. Any idea why a HDD would work but not a CF card?

@zero35 : improves I don't know how many but games with video FMV run better like resident evil 2.


I tried the last version from the last page, with MSR, stupid invaders, sturmwind, soulcalibur

MSR always great !
Stupid invaders -> black screen... Could you run it with the last version ? What's your preset please ?

sturmwind : error "clean your cd" preset homebrew IP.BIN loader 0.8c004800. With 0.6.1 homebrew IP.BIN 0x8c000100 I have a black screen after memory card choice. Maybe it's because we can't choose the 0x8c000100 loader. At now we can't choose IP.BIN boot and 0x8c000400 maybe if I choose manually.
I can share my sturmwind opt version if someone want to try. For now works only with dreamshell RC3.

and finally soulcalibur : with 0.6.1 the ground during the begininng of intro is green (when weapons fall from sky). With 0.6.6x beta the ground is still green but you can see the texture and finally with 0.7.x the ground is perfect !

you can't test sturmwind with this loader, sturmwind is homebrew and build as MIL-CD
0.7.0 support only optimised gdi

I forgot to remove unnecessary code, in the next version this game will work

Is it possible for a loader to run cdda in homebrews?

I'll be honest ... Dreamcast has very few fighting games.
I really wanted neo4all on ide with cdda.

Dreamcast racing games have a pessima physics and textures and exaggerated brightness except test drive lemans and MSR.
MSR and very repetitive racing circuit.

@aldair : megavolt has already resolved the loop problem that many games have like revolt and speed devil so probably this add in a cdda loader should be an issue for cdda already.


A lot of racing dreamcast games are famous (you have forgotten F355 challenge), megavolt is not looking only racing game and resolved all data transfert will help a lot for cdda later. But data transfert is more important for now even for homebrews (neo geo sidekick doesn't run well neither, flasback from joshprod, sturmwind data, pier solar...). A good data transfert for original games will help a lot for homebrew. It will be the same thing for cdda.

Be patient, dreamshell update a lot :-)

F355 is very beautiful but it does not go beyond this!
In tokyo xtreme racer, the car floats on the track,
but there are people who like the game.

Fast Strike, Dux and many others have cdda in iso.

Waiting for new loader with cdda !!!

I know it's a lot of work to schedule and it consumes a lot of time.
Could it be easier to load a homebrew with cdda?

at this stage I create the loader which will be located in the 16th kilobyte of memory, it will save us from need of selection of a memory address
the loader with CDDA will not be located in the 16th kilobyte therefore I am going to make in the future the separate loader for games with CDDA
but so far the speech only about GDI
I could make one loader, but it will be strongly big and will constantly have to look for for it memory, such option is not pleasant to me, I consider that it is better to make several loaders at the same time to save free memory

I agree. This sounds like the best way to go. If a future version of DreamShell allows you to select which loader you want to use, that will be perfect. That should be the best way to get 100% compatibility and CDDA support.

Is there any way to fix San Francisco Rush 2049 with this loader? On the previous loader you had to use a custom ISO. It would be nice if the GDI worked on this loader. As is, the Dreamcast just resets when you try and load it.
