new flash ic replace - fabio14789 - Сегодня 07:10 I damaged the flash chip while trying to change the Dreamcast's region. I bought a 29LV002TC-90PTN chip and programmed the `flash.bin` file onto it using a TL866CS, but it doesn't work... it seems I need a 256KB dump from the original chip. The Dreamcast won't read discs, so I can't flash it via the console itself. Any tips? RE: new flash ic replace - SWAT - Сегодня 09:37 Dump is 128KB and you can find it in DreamShell firmwares. You will have to flash it with a programmer. RE: new flash ic replace - fabio14789 - Сегодня 17:35 I compared the `dcus_ntsc.bin` flash file from DreamShell... it was identical... the difference is that the backup I burned ended up being 256 KB in size, with data extending beyond the 128 KB mark—the remaining blocks contained only `ffffffff`. I burned it correctly, but the Dreamcast logo appears as a black spiral... My Dreamcast's flash chip is a 29LV008B, and the motherboard is a VA1... I bought a 29LV002TC chip that is supposed to be compatible with the VA1 Dreamcast... could it be a different revision that requires the 29LV008B? RE: new flash ic replace - SWAT - Сегодня 19:52 Maybe you did not flash the block with factory settings (first 8KB), since it is write-protected on chip by default.
