Well, there is DreamPi, it’s exactly the same thing.

Yes, but in my country, the Raspberry Pi is expensive and it's becoming increasingly difficult to find a USB modem, and some people aren't familiar with virtual machines. I'm planning something easier to use.

In this case, it makes sense to buy a W5500 adapter and already have two games with online support for it (Quake 3 and Unreal). In the future, I guess it will be possible to patch games with a modem to support the W5500.

Another subject, I was trying create an patch to the dcload-ip using IA and reverse enginner on Dreamshell code for add support for w5500, without any Language C skills. I got works. but is experimental yet, my w5500 mod is direct on SPI board and w5500 on serial not work yet.

It is possible to patch anything, it’s just a question of expended resources.
