Just a heads up. Shenmue 2 EU crashes on disk 4 on the cutscenes of the shenmue tree.

This is using settings as specified on dragoncitys spreadsheet.

I have tried standard gdi, opt gdi and cdi all crash in the same place. The video stops but the audio continues.

I used a burnt disc to get past this one part and switched back to opt gdi and everything seems fine.

The game up until this point has been flawless.

I think I may have overwritten the save. I will double check when I get back in though.

It seems this particular spot also causes issues on emulators fwiw.


Edit : found a save at the start of disk 4 online. I'll see how to get it onto my vmu and run through it again as disk 4 is really short.

Just got to the same part with SYNC2 and it still crashes.

I have a save right before the cutscene now though so I can do any testing ideas you may have.

Yes work in RC3 and Opt.

Crazy games work in RC3 and not RC4..

I have a little more information regarding the glitch with PSO v.2 where you can't heal or revive other players. It's not limited to just playing online. If you play an offline quest like "Battle Training" where you have another team member, you cannot heal or revive them either. Also, I'm not sure if this is true but I heard that the GDEMU might have this same problem. Does anyone have a GDEMU and can confirm this? If that's the case then it's not specific to DreamShell.

Just played some Nettou Golf and was having problems with it randomly freezing. The music will cut out at the end of a hole and then the screen goes black. It seems to happen at random.

Do you use sata or ssd?

With ssd it's better some games bug in sata and not with ssd.

Ok because with some IDE and SATA it's worse that CF or SSD.

If you can test,use CF or SSD for compare.

After I know also,you have US CONSOLE no? So maybe different with an PAL console.

Have you played the game for a good amount of time? It was working perfectly for me until about 13mins of playing it. It may even last longer. Like I said, it seems to happen at random.

I'll give it a shot form a CF card though.

Edit: I tried it from a CF card but it did the same thing. It always seems to happen while putting. I'll take a putt, the music will stop, and then it will freeze while transitioning to the next shot.

In summary, rc2, rc3, rc4 have pros and cons, for example,

- Pro Pinball Trilogy works with RC3 but not RC4
- Shenmue works with RC4 beta 0.6.6 but this beta works bad with many other games
- "intro movie" of Skies of Arcadia plays PERFECTLY with RC2 IDE (no freezing at silver monster!!), but not RC3, nor RC4, even GDEMU did not play up to that scene!?

So it might be best with scripts that point to files, for example rename files of ide.bin sd.bin to rc3_ide.bin rc4_0.6.6_ide.bin, so desktop shortcut loads the working RC. If DS_CORE.BIN is involved, the script can reboot the system to load RC_DS_CORE.BIN and run the game.

This will need our mighty Programmer to help, please!!

Just a little post will be awesome.
Maybe we can share here some little wish of "easy" things to do. Like a isoloader version with cdda in ide mod with PIO and dma than dma only at actually... May it can help. Or else if we can help for making some tests or anything.
