Try 0.6.11, because 0.6.6 is buggy on IDE and works normally only with SD.

It lags because you use PIO mode with emu async.
Use DMA with true async.

Async true DMA on Game not startup

Well, it means no luck for this game right now
Try 4 or 2 for emu async. This should smooth out a bit, but will slow down the overall load.

Yes mi friend!! i change the HDD to another ide 2.5 40gb and now the games work fine!! really crazy.....the games work fine but kof xi random freeze with loader 1

Did some extensive testing with Ooga Booga and a CF card today. I would always have a random freeze when the timer reached 31 seconds. It never occurred on a HDD, only CF. Today I realized that I never tried it with 0.7 beta 3 (which I think is based on beta 2). I didn't think it would make a difference since the updates after the original 0.7 were only minor updates targeted at specific games (Ooga Booga not included). Apparently I was wrong as I have no freezing issues with beta 3! Whatever changed in b2 or b3 apparently fixed it.

Edit: I did some further testing with other Visual Concepts games I was having issues with on CF and those are fixed as well!

NBA 2K1/2K2 commentary in exhibition mode no longer stops after playing for a bit.

NFL 2K1/2K2 occasional freezing is fixed (usually happened during kicks).

All the VC games now work perfectly on a CF card with 0.7 beta 3! :-)

I did notice an issue with World Series Baseball 2K2 and a HDD though. It will frequently freeze at the online lobby screen. This doesn't happen with a CF card. Doesn't matter what loader I use in this case.

So it seems CF has better compatibility when using version 0.7b03.
I've only tried my old IDE HDD for a brief moment and didn't do any extensive testing.
I've now carved a hole on top of the modem slot where I can stick my CF card in.
This way I can use both my GD-ROM drive and CF card at the same time.
Too bad CF cards are a bit expensive though

Yeah with the VC games anyway. I never had any CF-specific issues outside of that. I ended up switching back to a HDD due to the freezing issues in the VC games. Now I can go back to using the CF card. Quite happy about that because I dished out $100 for a 256GB CF card last year. lol They're pricey but worth it in my opinion due to the ease of transferring new games to it. All in all, the IDE mod and the CF card together still cost me less than any of the ODE devices.

Like you, for me the CF is the best way if you have money to buy a huge one.
It's ide pure bus and flash chip without converter, you don't have flash with an ide hdd, and you obviously must use sata to ide converter with a sata hdd.
I use a ssd hdd, because I simply don't buy it.

0.7.Xb1 0.7.Xb3 works together, if a game don't run or have issue with 0.7.X_b1, I switch to B3. The B1 is smaller than B3 so sometimes 0.7.Xb1.
I notice no improvement between B2 and B1. The B1 is smaller so I keep it in first.

Hey guys with christmas around the corner i was hoping to play some of my modded dreamcast but unlucky for me the hdd i has inside broke.

I am currently in the process of chanigng it over to a ssd and have had everything running until i updated the iso loader, now when i boot games i get the error.

"DreamShell ISO from IDE loader v0.7.0
Initalizing IDE...
Error can't init IDE.
Failed!"

For using 0.7 loaders, you must have a defragmented SSD.
Else switch to 0.6 loaders considered @dragoncity to select the good version.

The CDI format is a compressed format of the GDI so that it can be burned.

But be aware that you have a lot of games or we had to remove some elements to allow this.

For example "The Nomad Soul" lacks the kinematics... !!!

So FORGET me this CDI format !!!

problem with CDI in sector size
in order to read from the HDD exactly as much as the game asks without breaking the request into separate pieces, the sector size in the image must be 2048 bytes

Dragoncity I know GDI is the original and more complete file, but I do not understand you very much when you say "So FORGET me this CDI format!!!" you think is bad to play in CDI in DS ? CDI games allows me to add more games because of the space in HDD, but I know some games does not work in CDI like NBA 2K series for example...I have your excellent list of PAL compatibility, and I am doing a NTSC compatibiity and I just found this, where you are putting almost all games in GDI-Opt I found those works in CDI...did you tried ? (to save space)

loader 0.7.0 support only GDI-opt, another format don't supported
to save disk space you can use dubcity GDI images
I would not use CDI images at all, because to optimize playback from CDs, they degraded the quality of sound and video clips
