problem with ssd booting

Hi! A few days ago i did the ide mod on my dreamcast, and put an ssd on it with the startech adapter. With the "dreamshell 4.0 rc 4 cdi image" it works perfectly, but i don't seem to be able to boot it using the "dreamshell 4.0 rc 4 + boot loader". I put the DS folder on the root of my ssd and the disk in the drive, and it just stops here:

Checking for G1 ATA devices...

And it does nothing. Just sits there. If i press start, it just says "enter boot menu...." And nothing happens. I wanted to do a bios mod but i am afraid it will do the same thing when booting through the new bios.
What am i doing wrong? Would dragoncity's sd mod be a way around this?

Also, I couldn't get the new 0.7.x loader to work. It always freezes at one point or another in this screen:

DreamShell ISO from IDE loader v0.7.0
Initializing IDE....
Mounting FAT filesystem....
Etc
Etc

It does not freeze on the same line everytime. Sometimes it freezes on "write LBA", sometimes on "mounting FAT filesystem", etc.

The official loader from 4.0 RC4 works perfectly though. Is this related to the first problem or is it something else?

Maybe the problem is the hdd. Try another. I am having the same screen but with another hdd DS boot normal

I tested with several SSDs, with the dreamshell CD or with the bios dreamshell, but retrodream starts up once in 4, I installed the capacitor, but it didn't change anything.

my sata adapter is a little different.

my sata adapter is a little different.

1. I have the same adapter. Removal of 1pin (needle) helped from the connector side. Tested on two adapters, they work: SATA SSD Critical 120 gb, Netac 1000 gb; SATA HDD 2.5 Hitachi 250 gb, Western Digital Blue 500gb, black 320 gb.

2. The test was carried out on the European VA1 and Japanese VA0 with the GDrom drive installed, the retrodream version 3.2. If you remove the GDrom drive, then only the retrodream version 3.1 works

I think the startech adapters are the ones who work the best for this mod. Other brands, especially these chinese cheap ones, have never worked well enough for me. Only like 1 in 4 times as you said.

Try with a Startech ide to sata adapter. They sell for about 25 bucks on ebay. It's the same one i showed on the photo i sent.

On the adapter, remove pin #1 of the IDE connector
