That's correct, you bought 44-pin CF reader.
44-pin P-ATA uses the same pinout as regular 40-pin IDE.
Only the difference is that the pins are a little smaller.
Also you need to provide 5V to pin 41 and 42 (this will power your CF card) and connect extra ground to pin 43.
Pins 1 to 40 are the same.

The best thing you should do is desolder the pin-header then just solder all 40 wires straight onto the pads.
Also solder extra 5V wires to pad 41 and 42 and extra ground to pad 43.

Because 44-pin P-ATA is smaller, you can easily fit the reader inside the case (on top of modem housing)

Glad you like it. The old settings are still relevant, just in some cases they need to be supplemented with new parameters.
Video playback already present in DS, try double click on video file in filemanager, but i'm not test it a long time, maybe something broken.
About screenshots viewing is a good point. But I'm not sure if I can find the time for this, maybe someone else would like to make such an application.

There is difference 2.5" IDE and 3.5".
CF Adapters for 2.5" with additional pins for the power. I use it because it's smaller and no extra wires needed for the power.

I'll choose this way because I have already a molex câble on my dreamcast power supply. And i'll can switch with my sata to ide adapter

Yes 2.5 inch uses smaller 44-pin IDE which include 5V power on pins 41 and 42.

Anyone tried Rent-A-Hero on DreamShell? Trying out the new English translation and there are issues. You can't go up the stairs in the house and if you load a save file where you're already upstairs, it will put you downstairs with the camera upstairs. lol Unfortunately this makes it unplayable. This issue occurs with any version of the GDI (including the original non-translated both optimized and unoptimized). I tested it on all versions of the DreamShell loader 0.6-0.8 with various loader memory settings and DMA on and off. No luck though. :-( Maybe this is something you can look into fixing in 0.8, SWAT?

It is difficult to correct such nuances, it takes a lot of time, and there is little result in the output. Such things can be done after the main work of emulation.

Hey pcwzrd13. There is a setting that will allow you to get up stairs. I was part of that translation really, really early on. I don't think I'll be able to find my post about it as it will go too far back in the discord but I will have the settings saved on my SD card at home. I have the game running from IDE and ISO Loader running from SD card.

The only preset I find for REZ is with 0.7.x loader so maybe with the low level.
for me the preset for RAH is probably an odd one like under defeat or grandia 2.

There is also some sakura taisen 3 issue for boot maybe it's the same one.

I'm finally come back to home, I'll give some tests for the last release of 0.8.x. unfortunately my dreamcast has some reboot problem again. I have to focus on this first.

Got it working! You need to use "IP.BIN" as the boot method.

@SWAT Could you explain what booting using "IP.BIN" does differently? I'm curious why it would cause bugs like this if it isn't used.

Edit: Holy crap! IP.BIN fixed Aerowings 2 as well! I've never been able to get into a game with DreamShell. It always just gave me a black screen before missions. Need to try this with other games that have weird issues.

Edit 2: Holy crap #2! Booting with IP.BIN fixes the bugs in Phantasy Star Online!!! I can now heal and revive other players online! This is amazing! How did it take years to figure this out?! IP.BIN is amazing! :-P

In general, all binaries launched from the disc are launched through IP.BIN, it has some initial settings for hardware and some software parameters.
In most cases this is not necessary, but some games require special hardware/software settings that set in IP.BIN.
You found exactly those games And this is not the whole list, I'm sure. Therefore, this method exists in the loader.

Loader memory 8cfe0000, others by default (DMA works now).

Now all the other problem is that every time in the game to forced shutdown, so to hard disk should have damage, fly line on the main board to reset doesn't work again, not all games effectively handle key combination, type of simulator game doesn't work. Handle key combination reset and then choose other games can not normal to enter, as long as the shutdown to open it. The other is cheating in function and the function is perfect.

Very strange, but I have no such issues. I played a few races in a row and everything was fine except that the loading screen was just white, everything else worked very well.
It seems to me that games work differently for us because of the difference in CF card. I use pretty fast variant with default settings except CDDA DMA_TMU1.

Hmmm, interesting. I'll have to try and test a few things. I do have other CF cards and a regular HDD.

Any chance you could make some 0.8 loaders with hard-coded presets? Just the most common ones with settings from my list would be nice. I'd like to be able to use them with RetroDream but I'm not sure when cpasjuste will get around to updating it with settings for 0.8.
