Edit: Figured out the screenshots (Start + A +B). Tested it in a few games. Works really well in Tony Hawk and Donald Duck Goin' Quakers. I was able to take a screenshot in Street Fighter Alpha 3 but it froze right after doing it. Tried Ready 2 Rumble but the game just froze with no screenshot taken. Also tried Soul Calibur but it didn't do anything at all when I pressed the button combination (maybe because this game needs low-level?).

Someday, you can add a hotkey setting for this, I laid the possibility of using different ones, just need to finalize UI in application. But from console you can set any pad buttons combination right now (change mask in shortcut script or smth).
This function does not work with a low-level (like the rest and will not), and it also does not work correctly in all games yet. Also it uses a *full* loader, it is larger than the standard one, which means there may be problems with CDDA and choosing different memory areas. It also needs to be enabled IRQ feature (auto enabled in UI).
Need more testing for this feature, my spare CF card is too small to handle many tests.

BTW, Soul Calibur works for me without low-level, but screenshots seems in wrong format. In any case capture is working here, just need improve support for different screen formats.

Awesome stuff! Not sure if you thought of this already but a "Screenshot Viewer" app for DreamShell would be really cool. Maybe even the ability to post screenshots to Twitter via BBA (too much? ).

Another feature that would be really nice to have would be an in-game FPS counter. Do you think this would be possible? It would be useful for testing purposes.

Edit: Just thought of the fact that the "Print Screen" button on the keyboard would be perfect for the screenshot feature.

Yeah, it's cool, especially if someone else besides me did it
Can do a lot of things, but I am one for all of this.
If I start making an application for viewing screenshots, then work on the loader will stop, and so on.
But I hope to make at least ftp so that you can drop the files in the foreseeable future.

The universal FPS meter will slow down the games a bit. To the best will need to integrate it into the game's rendering cycle with using GPU rendering instead of direct writing to video memory. It's too complicated for such not most important feature.

In addition to previous big update I improved video screenshot support for ISO Loader and make some minor fixes for the core.
Now screenshot should support all screen formats.

Yeah, totally understandable. Seeing the screenshot feature just got me excited for the possibilities. Improving compatibility in the loader is much more important though.

I was planning on writing an FTP server myself to allow disc dumping via ftp (like httpd-ack, but ftp), VMU save file transfer, IDE drive transfer, etc. but if one is already being written I will wait just contribute any features I might want to add to that one

Using loader 12 the CDDA stopped working from NEO4ALL-GDI.
I'm using loader 10.

I just add module with simple FTP server and shortcut on desktop, nothing more yet. BTW, work in progress.
Will be cool if someone make application.

It's not this version with the possible screenshots but the version just before that compared to the firsts 0.8 betas.
I don't have time to try the last one unfortunately.

0.8.0.Beta.10 -> Beta.11/12 worst CDDA in some games or?

That's right, you can see it especially on the homebrews :
(sturmwind for me and neo4all for @aldair) I know there are special.
but in general on original games the cdda has less crash (distorsion) with 0.8.0.beta.10 than beta.11.12
You can ear it with kao, or puyo puyo 4 specially for me.

Not sure if this is an issue specific to RC5 or not but I'm having a problem copying files with the file manager from my CF card to my serial SD card. I tried copying a few of the screenshots over and it will say the file copied but it just ends up as a 0KB file on the SD. Can you look into this @SWAT?

Hello SWAT and everyone!
Yesterday I did some tests with Baseball 2K2 online and works perfectly, in the earlier versions of ISO LOADER we got a random freeze in online mode.

The config and setup is:
-HDD 120GB formatted in 32kb
-DS folder on the HDD root
-DMA, IRQ and 0x8c000100

I also tried Planet Ring and I got same error from the earlier versions, got an error sync on Bubble Game.

For me I can connect to it with FileZilla and browse the files but I can't copy anything to or from it. It just times out when I try it. Still very cool to see my Dreamcast and VMU on my home network! Keep up the good work SWAT!

Edit: Did some CDDA testing with Quake III Arena. Good news: Distortion is completely gone! Looped the music four times and it continued to played perfectly! Bad news: This happens after the 2nd loop:



It's kind of beautiful but a bit hard to play.

I used DMA, IRQ, CDDA, DMA & TMU1, 0x8c001100.

I had this kind of issue with Millenium soldier Expendables but only on breakable components.

Else happy to see the cdda is really improved again !

More tests:

- MagForce Racing: Music still distorts after a couple minutes and the left audio channel cuts out. I think it's improved over the previous loader build though.

- POD SpeedZone: Music now plays without distortion but skips for a couple seconds (like a broken record) at the end of a track. Not a huge deal though. Much improved!

- Monaco Grand Prix Online: Absolutely perfect! Played the music for over 10+ minutes (5 loops) with no issues at all!

- Speed Devils: Music still distorts a bit on the 3rd loop. Fixed on next loop.

Good improvements all around!

Some tests from my side :

Skies of Arcadia : intro freeze at same moment than gdemu clone.

Millenium solder expandable : very very little crash during cdda, short freeze ingame and textures issue (very less than quake 3)

Puyo puyo 4 : very little Crash for cdda

Sturmwind : don't have to try many preset but game show read error when we start a game.

Kao : like quake 3 , the preset has changed, i can't be able to start a game, music stop during the intro and game crash during the next loading.

Not sure but the data flow looks very few better than previous version (at least same quality)
And cdda is the best that we have with dreamshell.
